After Care – Brows By Kim Honey
At Brows By Kim Honey, proper aftercare is essential to achieve the best and longest-lasting results for your eyebrows. Following our aftercare instructions helps ensure optimal pigment retention, smooth healing, and beautifully shaped brows.
After your Ombre Powder Brows, Microblading, or Permanent Makeup service, your brows will go through a healing process that typically lasts 7–14 days. During this time, it is important to keep the area clean, dry, and protected from excessive moisture, sun exposure, and makeup.
Our detailed aftercare guidelines are designed to minimize scabbing, prevent color fading, and maintain the perfect shape and tone of your brows. If you have any questions during the healing process, our team is always here to support you.
Trust the process — beautiful, natural-looking brows are worth it
HOW YOUR EYEBROW
HEALING WILL LOOK DAY BY DAY
Day 1
Your new eyebrows are gorgeous, and you couldn’t be happier!
The color is exactly what you hoped, and the shape is perfect.
Days 2–4
You’ll notice that your color has darkened slightly; this is only temporary.
This is because the fresh color has oxidized, and it will last up to 7 days.
Scabbing should be so thin and minimal that you feel comfortable going to work the very next day.
Days 5–7
Your eyebrows will begin to flake.
This is a natural part of your skin’s healing process, and you’ll want to avoid picking or itching.
This typically lasts 1–2 days.
Days 8–10
Your flaking has finished, and you will feel fully healed.
You can now treat your eyebrows normally. Even though your eyebrows and skin feel normal now, you’re still undergoing the healing process.
This means that your eyebrows will for a time look lighter than they will when completely healed at 6 weeks.
The reason for this is that at first you have new, baby skin and it will need several more weeks to finish healing.
Days 14–28
Finally, your eyebrow tattoo has fully healed.
You should love the color and the shape should be exactly right.
Soon you will be returning for your eyebrow tattoo follow-up appointment where your artist will see how you’ve healed.
Day 42
You can return for your follow-up.
Your follow-up is your chance to ask your artist to make any adjustments you’d like.
If you were nervous during your initial service and you wish you had gone darker or fuller, now is the time to make your improvements.
You should leave completely in love with your new eyebrows.
IMPORTANT
HEALING INFORMATION
-
The thickness will subside gradually as the days go by.
-
You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area; this is quite normal and will subside within 12 hours.
If you find any lymphatic fluid or blood seeping, you can gently clean the area with cool boiled water and gauze, blotting gently dry to remove any moisture. -
Redness, swelling, and stinging is normal and should subside by the following day completely.
If the area feels unbearable for certain individuals who have low pain tolerance, please use a clean ice pack for comfort. -
You will go through three healing phases:
1 – heal, 2 – peel, 3 – fade. -
Once the brow area starts to peel, it will appear flaky and unappealing.
The area may feel a bit dry. Do not pick or pull at the treated area as it will result in pigment loss. -
Once all scabs have fully fallen off completely and naturally, healed results should appear 10–30% lighter in color and 10–15% smaller in size from the initial.
Consider using a waterproof total sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color fading.
FAQs
What can I do after the procedure?
-
Use Vaseline or oil treatment on your brows 3 times a day for a total of 5 days.
-
Within 24 hours, you are advised to keep the skin clean and dry — that means no swimming, sweating, or otherwise getting the area wet.
-
Within a week, you are advised no picking, no tanning, prolonged sun exposure, no peeling, scratching, or rubbing the eyebrows, as this may result in a loss of color and scarring.
Will I need a touch up?
Most likely. Within a week of your first treatment the color will fade significantly and over the next four to six weeks can continue to fade as much as 50%.
This is considered an extremely positive occurrence as it allows you time to reflect on your shape and color.
After this period your follow-up appointment is carried out. At this point any changes you would like to make are discussed.
Why do I need a touch up if this is semi-permanent?
Because color is implanted in the facial area, there tends to be more fluid circulation than other parts of the body.
Your face sees the most wear of any piece of you — exposure to the sun, food, facial products — the list goes on and on.
All these things cause permanent color to fade; this is why you need a touch up.
